"You wouldn't believe how hard it is to try to save the world as a financial analyst! When I wanted to lend a hand in the refugee crisis, nonprofits were looking for doctors, teachers, lawyers, case workers, therapists, but not a single listing for a volunteer financial analyst.
I consigned myself to the fact that my skillset just wasn't useful in this space, and signed up to volunteer in Athens, Greece as an extra set of hands.
While I volunteered, I asked a lot of questions. These seemed to always lead me to problems I could solve with a spreadsheet: a time-consuming attendance tool, a chaotic scheduling process, etc.
Slowly, I came to realize that my out-of-place analytical skills were the secret weapon these nonprofits didn't know they needed!
After acting as self-titled "analytical consultant" for a couple of nonprofits, I came to realize that this could be a lot bigger than just me.
For every analyst looking to make a difference, there's a nonprofit trying to assemble meaningful metrics for their donors.
For every nonprofit out there struggling to build an online presecence, there's a marketing specialist looking to use their skills for good.
I founded Project Wheelhouse in 2019, hoping to bridge that gap between hardworking nonprofits and socially-minded business professionals. If we each leverage the skills in our own wheelhouse, we can drive dynamic change."
Our goal is to drive measurable impact in the lives of refugees in the most dire need. Here's what we accomplished in our first few months of operation.
